Alabaster Dress Crafted entirely from structured mikado — including the contrasting black bands — the Alabaster Dress is an alta sartoria piece defined by sculptural purity and minimalist elegance.
The seamless upper bodice creates a clean uninterrupted surface, enhanced by softly arched rounded shoulders that frame the silhouette with quiet strength. At the neckline, the black mikado band rises upward in a refined arch around the neck, creating a graphic contrast against the alabaster body of the garment.
From the waist downward, the dress extends into a long hourglass silhouette shaped through controlled volume and architectural precision, before narrowing elegantly toward the hem. A back vent allows ease of movement while preserving the sculptural line of the skirt. After completing the piece and reflecting on its form, the designer was reminded of the alabaster jar from the Gospel story — the vessel filled with costly perfume of pure nard, broken at the feet of Jesus as an act of devotion, reverence, and love.
